Eyebrow Lift New York City
Heaviness of the upper lids may be due to either excess skin of the upper eyelids, descent and downward movement of the eyebrows and forehead, or a combination of both. As the forehead descends with age and loss of elasticity, the brow will become more horizontal, shadowing the eyes and giving a sad, heavy look. The brow lift on the other hand will recreate a more open eye by elevating the brow giving it a more feminine and youthful look with a natural soft peaked arch closer to the outer aspect of the brow.
Brow lift surgery can be done alone or in conjunction with eyelid surgery or any other facial surgery. When done alone, it is usually under local anesthesia with light sedation. There is little pre-op preparation done before. It is done through a small incision, about ½ inch in length behind the hairline on each side of the scalp. No hair is shaved or lost. Often there is a discrepancy between the right and left brow and this can be corrected at the time of brow lift to give better symmetry. After surgery, a mildly compressive ‘ski band’ is worn for 2-3 days.
Brow lifting is an excellent way of enhancing the overall look of other facial surgery, showing the natural beauty of the eye and adding an alert, youthful look to the face.
