Torsoplasty New York City
Torsoplasty Male Body Contouring
This procedure is done in males who want to improve the overall appearance of their torsos.
Usually done by liposuction, it contours various areas alone or in combination.. The areas include fullness of the chest [gynecomastia], the ‘love-handles’, and the abdomen. By doing such, the overall harmony of the torso can be redefined to a more masculine look. The chest can be reduced and sculpted to being more ‘male’ looking, with definition of the pectoralis muscles. The abdominal fat can be reduced and tissues sculpted to suggest a “six-pack” look to the muscles. If there is a full and fatty look to the hair bearing pubic area of the lower abdomen [often seen as more female in appearance], this too can be reduced, thinned and flattened. Be assured that there is no change in genital sensation as a result of liposuction in this area. The waist can be narrowed and ‘love-handles’ reduced, getting rid of the ‘muffin-top’ look, both in an out of clothing . The overall goal of torsoplasty is to create a trimmer, leaner, more defined frame getting rid of the softer, fuller appearance usually associated with female body type.
The procedure is done at Dr. Simone’s ambulatory surgical facility using local anesthesia and twilight sedation administered by an anesthesiologist. Afterwards, patients wear a moderately compressive surgical garment for about one week day and night and then one week daytime only. The purpose of the garment to keep the natural swelling after surgery to a minimum, reduce pain [which is easily controlled by analgesics], and give a sense of support to the body. There is generally some discoloration and bruising which subsides over 2 weeks. Though exercise is basically off limits for three weeks, isometrics of the legs and arms are permitted. Work and non-stressful activities of daily living can be resumed in 5-7 days.
In general, liposuction of a single or multiple areas is not a solution to overweight problems. It is best done when a man is at or close to his optimal weight. A weight loss program may be advised prior to undertaking any surgical procedure which will improve overall health as well as maximize the result of surgery. What fatty areas remain will be almost impossible to improve by additional weight loss alone unless it is drastic. Torsoplasty and selective liposuction is the ideal solution here.
There is however, a place for those individuals who find it impossible to lose any significant weight but are still looking to improve their appearance. They can certainly get a moderate to excellent result knowing that a full, ideal definition of the torso is not in the cards for them.
Alone, the reduction and correction of gynecomastia has a significant effect on men’s self-esteem and general state of emotional well being. When done in conjunction of with these other procedures, it will produce a wonderful sense of confidence.
